What We Believe
-
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
-
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
-
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.
-
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
-
We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
-
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ sent into the world to shine forth the glory of God.
God, by His Word and Spirit, creates the Church, calling sinful humanity into the fellowship of Christ’s body (1 Cor. 12:12-31). By the same Word and Spirit, He guides and preserves that newly redeemed humanity. The Church is made up of those who have become genuine followers of Jesus Christ and have personally appropriated the gospel. The Church exists to worship and glorify God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The ministry of the Church is an extension of the ministry of Jesus in the power of the Spirit.

Meet the Pastor
Jackson Michelson is the founding pastor of Summit City Chapel and is passionate about helping people know Jesus, grow in His Word, and discover the life He created them to live. Before planting Summit City, Jackson served in ministry in both Oregon and Tennessee, where he developed a passion for teaching God's Word in a way that is biblical, practical, and accessible to everyone.
Jackson spent over a decade in Nashville as a signed recording artist and songwriter before God called him back into full-time pastoral ministry. Today, he believes his greatest privilege is helping people encounter Jesus and building a church that faithfully proclaims the gospel in Bend.
God has given Jackson & his family a clear vision: to plant a church where people from every background can experience the grace of God, grow in authentic community, and discover the life that is found in Christ. His heart is to see Summit City Chapel become a church known for loving people well, faithfully teaching Scripture, serving the city, and raising up disciples who make disciples.
Jackson and his wife, Shayla, have three children and love calling Central Oregon home. Passionate taco enthusiast, avid sports fan (Beavers & Seahawks), and lover of great songs, Jackson's greatest desire is to see lives transformed by the hope of Jesus.
